Wellness Trends
Sleep Health
Feel like you could use a better night’s sleep? Most people do need to improve. The National Sleep Foundation advises that healthy adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep per night. Sleep syncing is gaining popularity as a way to help you fall asleep quicker and gain more restorative rest. It entails adjusting your sleep cycle to the rhythms of nature (sun and moon) and aligning it with your circadian rhythm, which is your internal 24-hour clock that regulates much of your body’s processes.
A simple way to start sleep syncing is by setting up a regular sleep schedule, going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. This will help to put your body on a regular sleep cycle so that it becomes more used to waking up and going to sleep at certain times. There are also many innovative apps and devices out there to help track sleep, monitor sleep patterns and provide feedback to make the most of your rest period.
Gut-Brain Health
Many people are realizing the importance of gut health and seeking out more intuitive ways to listen to what their bodies are telling them. “There is a network of around 100 million neurons lining our gut. It is so extensive that many scientists refer to our gut as our “second brain,” says functional nutritionist Dr. Laubscher. “The chemical messages that pass between the gut and the brain are affected by our gut microbiome — and the importance of positively influencing this through our way of life and the things we ingest will become of even greater importance.”
Paying attention to the types of nutrition we are putting into our bodies is a key way to nurture our gut health. Superfoods (nutrient-rich foods that are considered especially beneficial) should be at the forefront of our diets as we focus on consuming colorful fruits and vegetables, or “eating the rainbow.” Look for a rise in recipes that are nutrient dense with powerhouse ingredients that help us to relieve stress, get better sleep, have more energy and improve our immunity.
Physical Health
Interested in an exercise snack? Not the food kind! A rising trend in 2023 sees us fitting workouts into our routines throughout the day. Known as exercise or movement snacks, micro workouts and incidental exercise enable us to exercise in small amounts at various points throughout the day.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends getting in 150 minutes of exercise a week, which would break down to 30 minutes a day over a five-day period. While that might seem easy enough to stick to, knowing you can be even more flexible in your workout routine gives you all the more motivation to get moving. “Removing the time barrier to exercise is a major factor in the growing popularity of this wellness trend. This bite-size, low-intensity format makes it easier to squeeze movement into more moments throughout the day,” says wellness expert and personal trainer Adrian Richardson.
So how do you incorporate this into the day? Try an at-home 15-minute yoga routine before your morning coffee, take a walk around the block to round out your lunch break and then finish the day with a stretching routine while watching your favorite show.
Also on the rise is the emphasis on low-intensity workouts (walking, yoga, hiking and swimming) as a way to be gentler on your body while still seeing the benefits of working out, which pairs perfectly with exercise snacks.
Wellness and Integrative Medicine
Your body is amazing. There is so much it can do that you may not even be aware of — and we can help you re-capture that kind of energy and function that may now be lagging. We not only want to heal any ailments that our patients may have, we also want to optimize their health for longevity.
KC Wellness Center’s integrative wellness services include:
Men of all ages can experience decreased testosterone levels. As they get older, they often hear that they should start expecting various symptoms, including lost strength, higher body fat, decreased energy and diminished libido.
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) helps men regain and maintain optimal testosterone levels. The therapy involves testosterone made from the same chemical structure found in hormones already present in the body. By reintroducing the hormones into their bodies, men can improve in overall health and energy.
As women age, their hormones become unbalanced as hormonal levels drop. Women may experience hot flashes, weight gain, decreased libido, insomnia, depression, joint pain, dry skin and other symptoms. As with BHRT for men, we can safely reintroduce the identical chemical structure into the body and restore a woman’s health, vitality and function while erasing acute and chronic conditions that result from hormone drops.
Any woman who experiences symptoms relating to hormonal imbalance is a candidate for BHRT. Women who are perimenopausal, menopausal and postmenopausal are more likely to suffer from hormonal imbalance and benefit from this therapy.
Customized and based on the specific needs of each patient, this service helps to rejuvenate and restore energy, metabolism, cell regeneration and disease-fighting responses. Through IV therapy, the nutrients can bypass the digestive system, causing the vitamins and minerals to be absorbed more quickly than oral supplements. This can provide instant relief to our patients and gives them that extra boost of energy to strengthen their daily performance.
There is no one-size-fits-all medical weight loss program, every person is different — they have different medical histories, health issues, upbringings, fitness routines and body types. That’s why for some people just dieting and exercising won’t help them lose pounds and maintain a healthy weight.
We must carefully consider what the most appropriate and effective program is for you and your lifestyle. KC Wellness Center is here to help you lose weight and teach you how to keep it off. Our customized programs are safe and affordable, and most importantly, they work for everyone who follows them.
As a woman’s body undergoes various physical, psychological and hormonal changes, the impact on her libido may be profound. Consequently, many women rely on medications and pills to build up and maintain an active intimate life.
Our practice offers a specialized form of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy. Our experts devised a new, simple, effective, safe and budget-friendly solution to help you build up your libido again. The PRP Therapy treatment is a patented procedure that provides lasting results in the shortest time frame, without undesirable side effects.
ED is one of the most common sex-related problems faced by men, characterized by the inability to develop or maintain erections during sexual activity. Unfortunately, the condition has very few treatment options available — with very few yielding positive results without producing side effects.
Our treatment is a complete and comprehensive rejuvenation program that fully restores penile circulation and function. Safe, clinically tested and providing lasting results, our penile rejuvenation therapy is simply the best treatment option available for erectile dysfunction.
